5 tips for better fishing for beginners

1. Fish along edges and structure

Fish are rarely found in the middle of nowhere. Look for places like:

- kelp belts

- rocks and reefs

- edges in Put & Take lakes

Here the fish often hide and hunt for food.

2. Vary your spinning

Many fishermen just spin at the same pace all the time.

Try instead:

- short breaks

- small jerks with the rod

- change in tempo

This can make the bait (flash or other) look like an injured fish, and this often triggers bites.

3. Try different colors

If the fish are not biting, the color may be the problem.

A good rule of thumb:

- clear water β†’ natural colors (silver, green)

- cloudy water β†’ strong colors (orange, copper)

Sometimes a color works really well one day, while it doesn't work at all the next. Therefore, it's a good idea to change the color or shades every 15-20 minutes if you don't get any breakouts.

4. Fish at the right times

Fish are often most active when the light is low.

The best times are often:

- early morning

- late evening

- cloudy days

5. Cover more water

The more casts you make in different places, the better chance you have of finding the fish.

If nothing happens after 10-15 minutes , it can often be worth moving around a bit.

You can systematically fish out an area by:

- throw straight out

- throw diagonally to both sides

- move a little and repeat the process

🎣 Fishing is not just about equipment – it's also about technique and patience. With these simple tips, you can increase your chances of a good day on the water.
